It’s been a while, and you are generating impressive images on Midjourney and are satisfied with the results. But now you want the Midjourney bot to step back and give you more control over image generation.

Midjourney brings regular advancements through its latest Midjourney versions, providing different experiences and giving you opinionated and smooth generations. Midjourney Raw mode gives you creative freedom while generating images.

You can add it as a Midjourney parameter and also as a mode. This article will give you all the information about Midjourney Raw mode. The comparison of images with or without Raw mode plus how to enable this great feature.

What is Midjourney Raw Mode?

Midjourney Raw mode is a Midjourney style parameter that makes your images un-opinionated and gives you more supervision over the image generation process. It decreases the effect of the default Midjourney aesthetic.

The images generated with Raw mode are more natural, with a slightly defined look.

The –style parameter’s job is fine-tuning some Midjourney models’ aesthetics. The –style raw is only practical with versions 5.1 and 5.2.

How To Enable Midjourney Raw Mode?

There are two ways to enable Midjourney raw mode. The first method is adding the parameter every time you add the prompt. The second is allowing it permanently through the settings command.

By Adding In A Parameter

To enable Raw mode, write “–style raw” at the end of your prompt.

Comparison Of Midjourney Versions With Raw Mode

Let’s see the different comparisons of Midjourney model 5.1 and 5.2 with and without Raw mode.

Midjourney Raw Mode – Model Version 5.2

Midjourney 5.2 is the recent update. This version can generate sharper images with improved quality.

This left-side image is generated with Midjourney 5.2, the default in your setting, and the right is by adding the raw parameter in the prompt.

Like the above comparison, I generate another image of an 80-year-old man just to see how facial features turn out in version 5.2 with and without raw mode.

Midjourney Raw Mode Model Version 5.1

As you know, Midjourney 5.1 is an older version than 5.2. I changed my settings and switched my default version to 5.1, entering the same prompt to see the transition.

The left image is without the raw parameter, and the right side is in raw mode.

Then I tried to enter the same prompt with version 5.1 to see the difference and have another comparison with the older version.
